FIRST DAY OF COMPETITION COMPLETE AT MAJOR LEAGUE PICKLEBALL AUSTIN 2022
DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas – Major League Pickleball (MLP) today completed the first day of competition of its second season. MLP’s 12 teams, each comprised of two women and two men, began play in the MLP 2022 Austin at Dreamland – Dripping Springs, Texas.
Teams ATX Pickleballers, The 5s, BLQK and Florida Smash lead the standings after each team went 2-0 in match play, though none of the 12 teams went undefeated in individual games on Day 1 of pool play.

Play continues tomorrow throughout the day and evening, beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT. The Quarterfinal matches will begin at 5 p.m. CT. All play from Major League Pickleball 2022 Austin is streamed on MLP’sYouTube, Twitter, and Facebook channels, with Sunday’s Final airing live on CBS Sports Network.
MLP 2022 Austin, akin to a Ryder Cup-style team event, will see MLP’s 12 teams battle for the right to be crowned MLP Champions and lift the Pritchard Cup, named after the founder of pickleball, Joel Pritchard. The unique team format, never-before-seen in professional pickleball, will see teams compete in women’s and men’s and doubles, mixed doubles, and singles as a potential tiebreaker.
