The Bay Area Breakers Organization was formed in 2022 by Mimi and David Mercado and Ritchie Tuazon. The team was originally called the Jackrabbits.  Geoffrey Nguyen, Wayley and Kathleen Louie, Jeff and Stacey Nishi and Jeremy Lin joined the ownership group in 2023.  The ownership group consists mostly of Asian Americans and the hope is that the Breakers are uniquely positioned to grow the game in the Asian and Asian American markets.  Six of the owners are UC Berkeley graduates, Go Bears!
